Ahead of the feast of Ramadan which marks the end of a month-long fast for the Muslim faithful, the Muslim community in Bamenda is set for the climax.
Having remained faithful in prayers and abstinence this period, they are now in the phase of making purchases for clothing and foodstuff for the feast which is expected on Thursday latest.
Suwebatu Sulemanu is visiting the market to purchase items to culminate the fast with her family.
Zenabu Usmanu, a student at The University of Bamenda is excited that the fasting is coming to an end. She has been praying for peace in the nation and intensified the last ten days.
“This period to me was the most blessed month of the year because when you pray during this period, your wishes are always granted by Allah. I prayed for peace in my country, happiness in my family and friends,” Zenabu said.
On his part, Isu, a resident in Bambui has acquired clothing for himself and his family as he looks forward to a feastful end of fast.
The last ten days of the month-long fasting are characterized by intense prayers to Allah from 1am to 4am. It is at this period that Muslims have all supplications channeled to God.
Fasting will end with Ramadan tomorrow if the moon that ends fasting is seen this night and on Thursday if it’s seen tomorrow night.
