Musonge Commission Goes Silent After Bamenda, Buea Missions

The National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism headed by former Prime Minister Peter Mafany Musonge, has gone mute since paying two separate “listen-to-the-people” missions to Buea and Bamenda over three months ago.

It remains to be heard if the Musonge Commission actually presented the genuine grievances of the people to President Paul Biya, as the impact of both meetings are yet to be felt.

Seeking urgent solutions to the crisis in the North West and South West Regions of the country was the top concern of every one who attended the Musonge meetings.

Till this day, no solution has come from Musonge Commission even as the crisis deepens.

An inhabitant, speaking on grounds of anonymity told Mimi Mefo info said “the Musonge Commission is just one of those commissions created to squander taxpayers money. I don’t see their use as the head of state knows the problems plaguing the nation and can solve them if he wants to. The commission to me should be dissolved and the money given to them used in tarring the ring road in the North West.”

Cameroonians in the North West have continued to express the wish for a lasting resolution of the crisis so their children can at least resume school and the guns can stop smoking.

Created by a presidential decree in January 23rd 2018 on the heels of the anglophone crisis, the commission for the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism is responsible for peace maintainance, consolidation of national unity and strengthening the spirit of living together.

The commission also has to propose solutions to the Head of State in the attainment of the above objectives.
Closed to 2years after it was created, it is yet to address the deepening socio-political crisis in the restive North West and South West regions of Cameroon.
