At least seven civilians shot dead in Mautu, village South West region of Cameroon. Inhabitants say military men committed the act in the process of searching for ‘separatists’ who slaughtered a woman in Muyuka this week.
Hundreds of people have been arrested in Muyuka Sub Division in the South West and taken to Buea. The move today is in a frantic effort to get murderers of a woman. Several other people fled to the bushes for safety.
Government has condemned the killing of a girl in Bamenda and another one in Muyuka by suspected separatist fighters. In a release signed by the Minister of communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi, he challenged the international community to bear witness of atrocities committed while condemning those who attribute such killings to the military. He expressed condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the government.
Fear and panic in Mayo Binga village in Donga Mantung Division in the North West region of Cameroon as a vigilante group member is killed by separatist fighters. The boys released pictures of the body of Isaila Saidou today. The victim is said to be a former player of Binga Red Devils football club.

A total of 42% people surveyed in Nigeria have reported losing their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic, while 79% reported a loss in income, the World Bank has said. In Ethiopia, 45% of urban households and 55% of rural households contacted through a phone survey reported income losses because of the outbreak, it added. A total of 46 foreign-owned retail shops have been shut in Ghana’s capital, Accra, because they were trading illegally, the Ministry of Trade and Industry has said. Ghanaian law bars foreigners from engaging in retail business and the authorities have come under pressure to enforce it. A hand grenade attack has killed three children who were watching television at a hair salon near Burundi’s economic capital Bujumbura, security officials say. Eight other children were wounded in the blast on Thursday morning in the residential area of Gahahe on the outskirts of Bujumbura, a police spokesperson said.
