The lifeless body of a 9-month-old baby has been discovered at the entrance to Government English Nursery School in Deido, Douala 1 subdivision. The baby wrapped in a carton and abandoned in the area by unknown persons was discovered by workers of the waste disposal company HYSACAM. Security officials of the 19th police district in Douala are on the case.
Several stores have been consumed by flames at the Douala Central Market. According to reports, the fire attacked a section of the Central Market late Monday, March 9th 2020. Over ten business places were consumed by the inferno but the arrival of the Army rescue soldiers contained the flames from causing much havoc. No human life was lost but enormous material damages are said to have been recorded.
The outgoing President of the National Assembly, Cavayé Yeguié Djibril, was conspicuously absent from the opening session of parliament today. Though sick, he was said to have returned to the country some 24 hours ahead of the session. This has once more fanned the flames of the debate regarding the 80-year-old’s successor. Vallere Bessalla, a politician and supporter of the Paul Biya regime says the position of Speaker of the National Assembly, which is constitutionally the third personality in Cameroon should be given to an Anglophone, to assure Anglophones of their important position in Cameroon. Outlining the need for things to change at the National Assembly, Bessala said the Senate in Cameroon has no use and could be removed like the case of Senegal. He insists that Cameroon is made up of English and French cultures and power should be shared equally.
Several security units came under attack last night during the intense gun exchange between the military and Amabazonian fighters. The Judicial Police, GMI 6 Bamenda, Military base No 320, Congress hall base, Gendarmerie Company, all in Bamenda were hit last evening. Calm is yet to return to the North West Region’s chief town.

The MP says his key mission at the lower house of Parliament will be to push for a rapid solution to the Anglophone crisis.
Mayors of the five councils in the Donga Mantung Division of the North West region of Cameroon have promised to unite the people of Donga Mantung who have been divided by the Anglophone crisis, under the common goal of development. The Mayors made the pledge during an oath-taking ceremony at the Nkambe Court of First Instance.

Due to the constant seizing of lights from Nkwen to Bambili, many who are preparing for exams say they have resorted to employing the use of solar lamps to use at nights. An anti-ghost town walk has taken place in Bamenda Chief town of the North West region of Cameroon. The walk comes some over 24 hours after the Sunday, March 8th explosion in the city.
During the walk governor, Adolphe Lele visited the site of the explosion and said 5 persons are under investigations in connection to the incident.

The attack by armed men in Galim- Bamboutos Division in the West region of Cameroon, the CPP says it portrays the quest of the boys fighting for the restoration of Ambazonia statehood to attack all parts of the country if nothing is done by the government to solve the problem permanently.
South Africa’s High Court has dismissed the findings of an anti-corruption investigator who said that President Cyril Ramaphosa had deliberately misled parliament over a campaign donation. Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane showed a lack knowledge of the law and did not have the power to investigate the donation, the court ruled. Judges also dismissed her call for the president to be investigated for possible money-laundering.
One of Nigeria’s most influential Muslim and traditional leaders, the Emir of Kano, says he accepts his dethronement as the “will of God”. Muhammadu Sanusi II was dethroned on Monday for “insubordination”, the Kano state government said. Morocco’s first coronavirus patient has died, according to the country’s foreign ministry. The woman in her 80s had several underlying critical health problems and had travelled back from Bologna in Italy. The country has so far confirmed three cases of Covid-19 infections.
Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo have confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the country in the capital, Kinshasa. The patient is a Belgian citizen who has been in the country for several days, Health Minister Eteni Longondo said. “We are tracking people who came into contact with him so that they too can be placed in quarantine, and tested,” Mr Longondo said.

A man from London has become the second person in the world to be cured of HIV, doctors say. Adam Castillejo is still free of the virus more than 30 months after stopping anti-retroviral therapy. He was not cured by the HIV drugs, however, but by a stem-cell treatment, he received for cancer he also had, the Lancet HIV journal reports.
Congolese music star Koffi Olomidé has returned to Kenya four years after he was deported for assaulting one of his female dancers. A video recording of the incident at the main airport in the capital, Nairobi, was posted online and sparked outrage on social media.
