National Identification documents: national security chief promises better days

Following a social media campaign calling for the provision of national identify cards and passports by Cameroon’s security service, the delegate general for national security says the two identification documents will be established and given to Cameroonians in need within the shortest time possible.

In a press statement by the Secretary General of the national delegation in charge of security Friday, January 8th, 2021, passports will be available 48 hours after application while national identity cards will be available few days or weeks after application.

Baya Dominique adds that the modernization of the identification process in Cameroon has eliminated all chances of multiple establishing of national identity cards by an individual.

Some Cameroonians are not convinced by the pronouncements by officials of national security arguing that they have made such promises in the past but have never fulfilled same.

Some Cameroonians have lost several opportunities for either lack of a national identity card or a passport .
