Following the killing and roasting of at least a dozen civilians in Bamenda, yesterday by government forces, Ndansi Elvis, one-time National Youth President of Bello Bouba Maigarï’s NUDP party has said its a long time plan to annihilate Anglophones in Cameroon.
The youth leader currently residing in the United States summarised his frustration and sorrow in a piece titled, “Doubt Why they Continue to Burn our Homes?”
He says La Republique du Cameroun since the late 80s had established an assimilation plan that consisted of the following.
– Ruin their economy and render them dependent on Yaounde
– Target their educational system
– Destroy their culture – It binds them together and makes them stronger
– Disperse them and let them scatter around so unity can be weakened.
Ndansi adds that: “They have been implementing this strategy systematically. The Yaounde regime started by closing all the major corporations and businesses that were keeping the economy of Southern Cameroon alive. You can name them: MEDINO, Coffee and Cocoa Board, Cameroon Bank, etc. The impact of this collapse forced many of our youths to migrate to LRC for greener pastures. many of them have since been running businesses in Doula and Yaounde, after constructing big buildings leaving motherland southern Cameroons underdeveloped.
“They targeted our educational system by sending French teachers to teach our kids and tasking French administrators to head our major educational institutions. They sent their kids to occupy our boarding schools forcing poor parents who could not afford the competitive cost of private education to send their children to government schools where they were destroying its curriculum and morals. This is one of the reasons that ignited this current crisis when teachers and lawyers decided to fight back.
“To destroy our culture, they decided to ‘clientize’ our traditional rulers by placing them on salaries so they could easily be controlled from Yaounde. They got them involved in politics and many of them despised our traditional values for political gains. When the crises started, they targeted some of our places, burnt and desecrated some. They set our traditional rulers at loggerheads with their children labeled as terrorists or separatists and they became targets as many of them ran away from their places. Our palaces are now empty and our tradition is getting eradicated. Lela dance in Bali Nyonga is now history and we do not know when Ngongso festival of the Nso people will ever take place again. Yes, they are implementing their master plan.
“To disperse us, they declared war on us. Shooting and killing innocent citizens without any justifications. At best even beheading some and displaying their skulls to the public as well as burning homes and entire villages. The Yaounde regime has also been Injecting fear in the armless youths by causing them to flee away from their homes and villages, relocating to strange places where they feel alienated and voiceless. Yes- That is why they are burning our homes.
“Ask yourself this question – When a military commander sends out his troops for an operation, he knows the exact number and their names. Why is it that all these burning of houses keep happening and no military officer is being sanctioned? Do you think the perpetrators are not known? Why do you think the government has normalized this action? It is because the master plan is from Yaounde and had long been established with the help of France! That is the system used in the pre-colonial era. Open your eyes my dear Southern Cameroonians. This is not just some random mistake. It is a well-crafted plan being implemented.
“Unite and establish your strategy to stop this from happening. Wait for no one from Yaounde to put an end to the burning of your homes. To our elites in government – I pity your ignorance as you stay mute while your villages are being extinct with fire. They laugh at you in their private gatherings. They do not care about you.
“It’s been a while but silence at times does not mean absence! Arise, my people!!”
