The Ndop council in the Ngoketunjia division, North West region has given back money meant for Public investment projects to the national treasury.
The money is estimated to be one billion francs.
Mayor Toh Daniel told reporters during the recently held council session that insecurity in the municipality has made it difficult for projects to be executed, reason why the council returned the money to the state treasury.
He reveald that most contracts and projects awarded for execution in the area can’t be carried out with contractor’s unable to access projects.
Meanwhile,Many pupils, students, and other youth in Ndop have reportedly not been able to register for official and some competitive entrance examinations as a result of a lack of birth certificates.
Mayor Toh Daniel details that officials in charge of issuing the birth certificates have been facing security challenges.
He has assured the people of his municipality that he will get those in charge to commence work.
“I am going to contact those of the legal bench within the division in other to agree with them on what remedy we can put in place to see that they resume the production of birth certificates”, he said.
Mayor Toh Daniel used the press outing to encouraged the people of Ndop to continue clamoring for the return of peace for development projects to be fully executed.
Recently in Bamenda, Mayors in the North West region revealed that they want to embark on the project to help Internally Displaced Persons acquire birth certificates.
