Ndop population pays the price as war between administration and separatists rages on

Activities have been paralysed in the town of Ndop – Ngoketunjia Division in the North West Region of Cameroon since May 18th 2020. This follows the shutting down of all business activities by traders.

According to some traders in Ndop speaking to Mimi Mefo Info, they locked their shops to show solidarity to their colleagues whose shops were sealed by council officials for respecting ghost town imposed by separatist fighters prior to the celebration of National Day May 20th.

Since then, the traders have been pointing accusing fingers on the administration of the council for shutting the markets and business centers, accusations that have been refuted by the Senior Divisional Officer for Ngoketunjia Division.

In an exclusive interview with Canal 2 English TV Tuesday June 9th 2020, the SDO, Quetong Harderson Konge says “Ambazonia boys have threatened traders not to open their shops else they will kill and destroy their property. It is because of this threats that business activities have been paralysed in Ndop and other places in the Division.”

According to the SDO, the Council and other administrations of the Division want activities to resume fully.

“People should not respect the thieves, social media propagandists and deceivers that want to destabilise Cameroon”. The SDO adds while making a fervent call for people to ignore the activities and threats of the boys fighting in the forest.

Quetong Handerson Konge says Ambazonian boys in the Division through social media messages have been appreciating the people for respecting their calls to maintain a prolong lock down in the Division.

As the administration of Ngoketunjia and amba fighters stretch muscles on which group controls the activities and welfare of the people, the local population are feeling the pinch as shops remain closed. Movement in and out of the town has also been grounded since the dispute arose.
