Nearly a dozen Cameroonian activists arrested in London for protesting the murder of journalist Martinez Zogo

About a dozen Cameroonian activists from the Brigade Anti-Sardinards (BAS) UK were arrested at the Cameroon High Commission in London today Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

The activists were protesting the brutal murder of Radio Host and journalist Martinez Zogo.

Carrying a coffin with the Cameroon flag and images of Zogo, the activists enacted a scene, depicting a State funeral.

An officer from the London Metropolitan Police, who spoke to MMI, confirmed that some persons had been arrested at the Cameroon High Commission this morning “on the suspicion of committing criminal damage.”

This refers to fake blood which the activists used to deface the frontage of the High Commission while chaining themselves to the barriers around the building.

The activists have maintained that fighting for justice for Zogo, is a moral duty of every Cameroonian, who deserves the right to live and freedom of expression.

Martinez Zogo, the Director of Amplitude FM, a Radio Station in Cameroon’s capital city, Yaoundé, was kidnapped on January 17 and found brutally murdered five days late. His corpse indicated signs of torture, sodomy, and mutilation.
