Nearly ten killed in Manyu Division

Residents in some towns in Cameroon’s North West and South West regions woke up to the sounds of gunshot this morning leaving many in fear.

Prior to the PM’s visit to the South West region, close to 10 persons were said to have been killed in Bakebe in the Manyu division, South West region.

“They were pulled out of their house and taken to the bush before being executed with live ammunition by the military” a source says.

“The civilians locals say were from houses along kumba – Mamfe road from Ashum to Barkebe.

“All these people were taken from Barkebe in Tinto Sub-division Vally from Wum, lover boy from Always, Kelvin from Batibo, Johnson from Barkebe, Benji, etc” another source states.

The recent action comes barely days to the February 9 twin elections within a fragile security context.

With the lockdown by Ambazonia separatists kicking off today in the North West and South West regions, many have already fled the regions for fear of further military-perpetrated violence.
