The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon distances itself from a couple who allegedly delivered 9 children

Social media has been swamped with images and videos of a woman who is said to have given birth to Nonuplets (Nine infants) during the past few days.

It was reported that the mother gave birth to the children at the Health Services of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) in Manyemen, Nguti, in the Kupe-Muanenguba Division.

However, the PCC said on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, in a statement that it is not aware of a mother having nine infants at their facility.

The notice, which was penned by Dr. Nyaah Fidelis Bah Ngoh, Secretary for Health Services, PCC, stated: “These children, who were about 3 months old, were observed beside the road in a car that appeared to be travelling from Nigeria to Kumba. The car transporting the parents and carers stopped at Manyemen so that its occupants might eat bush meat.

The information was distorted, says PCC in a ‘call for concern’ release

The PCC Health Services continued, “The populace rushed towards the vehicle and misread the information as they believed the vehicle had left from our hospital.”

The infants were not born in the medical facility in Manyemen, according to the Health Services Secretariat of the PCC, and “neither information about these children nor their parents is recorded in our institution.”

Rumours?
It is still unknown how and where information about the lady giving birth to the nine children was obtained.

An anonymous source told MMI last week that “a woman who just had nine babies has been taken to the Chantal Biya Foundation in Yaounde.”

No more information was provided. Since the earlier image and video of the babies and many ladies in two vehicles surfaced, none have surfaced.

In fact, one of the women who saw the car and was carrying one of the newborns remarked, “They are six girls and three boys.

A few hours later, the story was debunked as fake.

Nonuplets are incredibly uncommon; prior to the Cissé children, no instance of nine kids from a single birth lasting longer than a few hours had been documented.
