North West Governor, Adolphe Lele l’Afrique has announced the arrest and detention of a soldier for shooting two civilians to death in Bamenda, Tuesday February 22. The governor in a release yesterday attributed the action to intoxication from alcohol.


At least one person died today in a road accident along the Kribi-Edea highway in the Littoral Region. The accident involved a motorbike that collided with a private car. The bike rider died on the spot.
Shop owners in the Etoudi and Mendong neighborhoods in Yaounde are still counting their losses following two separate fire incidents. The Etoudi fire razed shops in a market yesterday while that in Mendong happened today. The causes of both fire incidents are yet to be established.



Opposition Political Party leaders have released a communiqué informing public opinion about a meeting held in Yaoundé on February 22. They discussed consensual reforms and Cameroon’s electoral systems among other things. Parties represented at the gathering included SDF, CRM, UDC, PCRN.



Volunteers who served at the Africa Cup of Nations Tournament have complained of having not been paid by the authorities. Some of them have staged protests in front of the Japoma Football Stadium in Douala against this treatment. Their concerns are yet to be addressed by the authorities.



Teachers in the Far North region protesting against poor working conditions are yet to have their demands met. Today, a video of students urging authorities to step in emerged on social media. In the clip, they urged authorities to pay teachers what is owed them so they can return to class.


Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses have seen off The Gambia in a 2-1 win today in Banjul. It was the return leg of the Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers game. The first leg in Cameroon ended in an 8-0 victory for Cameroon.
