Joe Chebongkeng Kalabubse, new President of the National Communication Council has today been officially installed into office. The installation took place at the Star Building in Yaoundé and was presided over by PM Joseph Dion Ngute.

A 19-year-old girl is currently behind bars in Bafang, West Region of Cameroon stabbing her boyfriend to death. The teenager who has also dropped out of school says her reason for doing so was because the boy had cheated on her.

A young man is reported to be on the run in Yaoundé after making away with over 3 million FCFA believed to be his friends’ savings. Biloa Edoa is said to have urged his friends that it was wise for them to collectively save money.

Today, the body of former Cameroon Prime Minister, Achidi Achu was flown into the country from the U.S.A. The corpse is expected to be transported to Santa, his home town, where it would be buried on July 3, 2021.

The office of the subdivisional inspector of basic education in Konye subdivision remains in ruin since it was burnt. For security reasons, students and pupils in other subdivisions in Meme division converged on Kumba to write the first School Leaving Certificate and GCE examinations.

Players of the Cameroon National Senior Women Handball Team will be awarded special medals tomorrow in Yaounde. The medals from President Paul Biya follows their brilliant performance at the just ended African Handball Championship. The lionesses were defeated at the finals by Angola.

The new president of the National Communication Council says his team will sensitise, train and sanction journalists when need be in the process of regulating the media landscape. Joseph Chebonkeng was installed today by the Prime Minister. He takes over from Peter Essoka.

Some Journalists in Cameroon are pessimistic that the new team at the National Communication Council will not properly discharge its duties if it does not have powers to enforce sanctions. These journalists are calling on the President of the Republic to give more powers to the NCC. At the same time, they call on the new team not to be political in sanctioning erring journalists.
