Teachers syndicates have been summoned for a meeting at the Prime Minister’s office tomorrow to seek an end to an ongoing strike action. Teachers in the Far North Region today showed up in schools but denied to teach, demanding for better pay and work conditions.


The new USA ambassador to Cameroon, His Excellency Christopher Lamora has officially taken over his functions. He is expected in Cameroon in the days ahead, and will have among other issues awaiting his attention, the ongoing Anglophone crisis.

At least one person died in Yaounde today as a locally made explosive device went off in a market. The incident happened at the Etoudi Market at about 7 am. Investigations have been opened to establish facts about the explosion.



A Cameroonian Journalist called Samira Tene today after a protracted illness. Samira Tene had worked as a TV Presenter, and Radio Host in several media houses including Canal 2 International, ABK TV, and LTM.


The body of a girl called Bessem, has been buried after it was discovered in her room in Buea, already decomposed. Neighbors discovered the corpse thanks to the foul smell it was emitting already. The cause of her death has not been established yet.


A tenant in the nation’s capital, Yaounde is on the run after allegedly stabbing his landlord to death over unpaid rents. Neighbors say the tenant had threatened to deal with the landlord who had issued him a quit notice.



A lady is currently in police custody in Douala, arrested for producing fake cosmetics. The lady is question is said to have been producing the products with doubtful ingredients, then labelling them as made abroad.


Today was observed as the International day of mother language. Initiated in 1999 by the UN’s cultural wing, UNESCO, the day has as goal, the promotion of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
