Some Nigerian-based fraudsters have faked the kidnapping of an 8-year-old Cameroonian boy in a bid to extort money from a church in Nigeria.

According to reports, the fraudsters claimed the 8-year-old boy had been kidnapped from a church in Nigeria after which they defrauded the sum of over a million CFA from the church.

They spread some photos of the child on social media, claiming a certain Prosper, had gone missing.

A suspect by the name Neba Godlove was later apprehended by the police in Delta State after being accused of being part of the gang of fraudsters.

Addressing the press, the biological father of the 8-year-old reiterated that his son had never been a victim of kidnap, nor had he been to Nigeria in the past.

“I just want to let the whole world know that this is my son and I am the father of this child. My son has never been to Nigeria and my son is not missing. My son is with me every day.” Indicated Oro Gideon, father of the 8-year-old boy.

The incident according to Gideon caused a lot of distress and evoked the feeling of insecurity in the family.

He stated that “when I heard of this news that my son was missing, I was so shocked. My son also has been so stressed up, my entire family has been stressed up.”

Gideon further revealed that the recent occurrence led to the loss of their two-month-old baby following his wife’s depression that occurred because of the incident.

“This thing went so far that I had to take my son out of school to the house for safety reasons. I can’t do anything! All this while, I’m indoors working as security to guard my son day and night.”

Oro Gideon has further, deposited a complaint at the police for further investigations, hoping justice will take its course.
