Nigerian comedian, Cute Abiola in trouble over use of police uniforms in skits.

Renowned Nigerian comedian Abdulgafar Abiola, widely recognized by his stage name Cute Abiola, has found himself embroiled in a controversy surrounding his choice of attire in his comedic skits. The talented entertainer has come under fire for donning police uniforms during his performances, sparking a heated debate among fans and critics alike.

He is being investigated by police and may face prosecution for “disrespectful and derogatory portrayal of the police uniform.”

In a recent statement tweeted by the police force, spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized that the law strictly forbids any individual, regardless of their pretext, from disparaging the police institution or flagrantly disregarding its regulations pertaining to the use of uniforms.

“In as much as the law grants Nigerians the right to enjoy their fundamental human rights, the same law prohibits an individual, under whatever guise, from rubbishing the police institution or grossly violating its provisions with regards to the use of uniforms,” the statement read in part.

In a recent development, it has been revealed that Cute Abiola, a popular social media personality, has come under fire for posting two skits that have been deemed offensive. The skits in question were shared on his social media accounts on the 20th and 24th of July.

In a hilarious display of comedic genius, the renowned comedian took on the role of a law enforcement officer, captivating audiences with his impeccable acting skills. Clad in a full police officer uniform, he approached an unsuspecting motorist, cleverly weaving a tale of a police car running out of fuel. With impeccable timing and wit, he requested monetary assistance from the bewildered driver, all in the name of procuring petrol for the stranded vehicle. In yet another incident, a police officer has been caught in the act of soliciting a bribe.

In a stern message delivered by the police spokesman, a clear warning was issued to skit makers. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the uniform, the spokesperson stressed that the police force is fully dedicated to upholding this sanctity. Furthermore, they made it abundantly clear that any individual or entity attempting to tarnish the reputation of the uniform or the institution it symbolizes will face legal consequences, as the force is determined to ensure accountability through due process.

“Abdulgafar Abiola will be investigated and possibly prosecuted for his deliberate acts as the NPF had already warned skit makers and filmmakers to desist from desecrating its uniform or accoutrements,” continued the Nigerian Police Force statement.

The comedian’s past transgressions have once again come to light, as it has been revealed that he was previously arrested in 2021 during his tenure as a navy officer. This arrest was a result of his violation of the military’s strict social media policy.

In a significant career move, the individual made the decision to step down from their military position last year, opting instead to take up a role within the esteemed Kwara state government.
