Nigerian man Olubunmi Abodunde, killed his wife, Taiwo Abodunde, a few months after they relocated to the United Kingdom. Mr. Abodunde appeared at Suffolk Magistrate Court and Ipswich Crown Court today, but did not enter any plea.

Suffolk police stated that the 47-year-old Abodunde will remain in police custody pending further hearings.

The news of the death of nurse Taiwo Abodunde began to spread on Tuesday, November 28, after her brother, Owoeye Alex Adekunle, on behalf of their family, shared a post about her death on his Facebook page.

Owoeye stated that, according to Suffolk Police, after thorough investigations, despite being caught in the act, the husband, Olubunmi Abodunde, has been declared as the sole murderer of his wife (his sister).

“The deceased left behind three children who are currently in the care of UK social services,” he added.

Earlier, Suffolk police, in a statement, reported receiving a report of a serious incident at a property on Exning Road in Newmarket, Suffolk, around 9:55 am. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of Taiwo Abodunde.

Detectives arrested two men, the husband and another 38-year-old man, as murder suspects and took them to the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

After investigations, the police charged Mr. Abodunde, the sole suspect, with murder and released the 38-year-old man, stating that he would not face further action.

Suffolk Constabulary indicated that they have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The area on Exning Road was closed by the police, and an increased police presence is expected in the vicinity, according to the force.

A spokesperson for the IOPC stated, “We can confirm that we have received a referral from Suffolk Constabulary in relation to this incident, and we are conducting an assessment to determine what further action may be required.”

Meanwhile, Suffolk police have urged anyone with relevant information that could assist in the case to come forward.
