Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the new chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

His new position was unveiled during the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS. 

Bola Tinubu succeeds Umaro Embalo, the current President of Guinea Bissau as the head of ECOWAS.

Bola Tinubu won Nigeria’s presidential elections earlier this year on March 1, 2023. He was officially sworn in as President on May 29, 2023.
