The three candidates, one of whom is most likely to become the next Nigerian President in 2023 are now known.
The ticket bearer for the
The ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) is
Bola Tinubu (Yoruba Southerner) and former Lagos State Governor. Bola Tinubu won the primaries ahead of the current Vice President who was touted as favourite to succeed Bihari.
Challenging Tinubu for the position will be Atiku Abubakar candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Atiku Abubakar is a Fulani Northerner and Former Vice President under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) is the former Governor of Anambra state and an Igbo Southerner.
This means that Peter Obi provides the only opportunity for Igbos to have one of theirs as Nigerian President. The only person of Igbo extraction to have held the office of President was Nnamdi Azikiwe, who led the country at independence.
Which of the three candidates is likely to take Nigeria forward?
