Niger’s ousted president says Sahel region could fall to Russian influence
Niger President Mohamed Bazoum, who was ousted in a coup last week, has warned that if the coup succeeds, “it will have devastating consequences for our country, our region, and the entire world.”
Bazoum’s reaction was published in an opinion piece published Thursday in the Washington Post.
The deposed leader who is currently being held hostage called on the U.S. and the entire international community to restore constitutional order and restore his government.
He added that the entire Sahel region could fall to Russian influence through the Wagner Group
