Nkambe: Young man dies five days after trying to rescue woman who set herself ablaze

A young man whose name MMI got as Tashey has died from burns he sustained as he tried to rescue a woman who had set herself on fire in a house in Nkambe, Northwest Region.

Tashey died at a local hospital in the evening of Sunday, April 2, five days after he tried in vain to rescue 34-year-old Caroline Kisang, who reportedly locked up herself in a room and set fire.

She died shortly afterwards and was buried on the same day.

An eyewitness who had stopped at the fire scene told MMI Tashey narrated to them how he broke the door of the room when he saw the fire and tried to pull the woman out.

But to his dismay, the woman resisted and rather pulled him further into the fire, which caused him severe burns on his back.

He was admitted at the Binshua hospital in Nkambe, where he unfortunately died last evening.
