Israel-Iran Conflict: North Korea Weighs In Favoring Iran

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) has strongly condemned what it has termed “state-sponsored terrorism” being perpetrated on Iran by Israel.

Pyongyang reacted on Thursday as Israel and Iran entered the seventh day of trading missiles.

The statement was echoed by a spokesperson in the North Korean foreign ministry.

Reported by North Korean state media, KCNA, Kim Jong Un’s government regards Israeli attacks on Iran as a “crime against humanity,” warning that it risks triggering a broader war in the volatile Middle East.

Pyongyang said it is “seriously concerned” over Israel’s military attacks on Iran’s civilian, nuclear, and energy sites and “resolutely denounces it.”

To North Korea, the killing of civilians in Israeli attacks was “an unpardonable crime against humanity.”

They, however, accused the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, saying the ongoing fighting is raising the risk of “a new all-out war” in the region.

North Korea Warns West Against Intervention

North Korea equally warned the USA and European countries to shun further interventions in favor of Israel.

This comes after reports indicating that the United States of America is clearly providing support to Israel as the conflict escalates.

“The present grave situation witnessed by the world clearly proves that Israel, supported and patronised by the US and the West, is a cancer-like entity for peace in the Middle East and a chief culprit of destroying global peace and security,” the statement from the North Korean Foreign Ministry said.

“The international community is strictly watching the US and Western forces fanning up the flames of war, taking issue with the legitimate sovereign right and exercise of the right to self-defense of Iran, the victim,” it added.

Iran and Israel Not Backing Down

Last Friday, Israel carried out a missile attack, destroying several defence and nuclear facilities in Iran and killing some of its senior military commanders and scientists.

Israel said it launched the attack to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

Iran retaliated against the attack, striking several Israeli cities, including TelAviv. On the first day, Iran fired over 200 missiles on Israel; however, Israel’s “Iron Dome” air defense system downed several Iranian missiles.

However, both sides have suffered anonymous human and infrastructural losses since the conflict started and have continued to trade missiles without any possibility of a cease-fire.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said the US was running out of patience but did not say whether the US Army will directly engage in the war.

Before Wednesday, Trump cut short his participation at the G7 meeting in Alberta, Canada, because of the developments in Iran and Israel.

He later posted on his Truth Social platform saying he wanted an “unconditional surrender” from Iran.

Meanwhile, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has rejected the US ultimatum and warned of “irreparable damage” if America intervenes.

Trump has said they know the hiding place of the Iranian Supreme leader but “won’t take him out ‘kill,’ at least for now.”
