The Governor of the Northwest Region, Adolphe Lele L’afrique has passed an order which bans the circulation/transportation of pigs and pigs product from the Mezam and the Momo Divisions of the North-West following the discovery of the African swine fever in the region.
The ban which has been placed till further notice, is aimed at limiting the spread of this swine disease in the region.
The Governor had equally promised heavy sanctions on pig owners who may dare to go against the ban.
The Regional Delegate in charge of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry, as well as the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam and Momo, the Forces of Law and Order, Divisional Officers, Divisional and Sub Divisional Delegates for Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry have been charged by the Governor to enforce this order within their domains of competence in their areas of jurisdiction.
