North West Regional Assembly:
First Ordinary Session Opens Today as House of Chiefs President still in captivity

The first ordinary session of the North West Regional Assembly for this year opens in Bamenda today in absence of the President of the North West House of Chiefs, Fon Kevin Shumitang II abducted over 100days ago.


Fon Shumitang abducted December 7, 2021 is also vice President of the North West Regional Assembly. This will be the second session that will be taking place since the President of the House of Chiefs, Fon Shumitang was kidnapped in his native Bambalang village.


Since his kidnap, it has been business as usual in the house with the assembly yet to make any official statement.
The first ordinary session is to run for four days. Deliberations are expected to be chaired by the President of the North West Regional Assembly Prof Fru Angwafor III.


Since the creation of the Regional Assembly and the North West House of Chiefs, the region is yet to feel their impact.
When the session opens today, the House of Chiefs and the Divisional Representatives will split on Tuesday and meet in separate sessions.
