North West Transport Delegate says Communique Fixing visa-type Travel Requirements was Fake!

After a communique imposing additional requirements on travellers in the North West Region provoked national and international outrage, the delegate of transport in the North West Region has issued a disclaimer qualifying yesterday’s release as fake.

Che Gilbert Ngong has said he is not the author of the  communique.

In the viral release dated September 18, passengers leaving the NorthWest region were told to state their departure motives and destinations or will be prevented from travelling out of the region. The Regional Delegate of Transport in the North West Region took the decision after meeting with stakeholders, yesterday’s viral document stated.

Hundreds have been leaving the North West and South West regions to seek refuge in other parts of Cameroon as tension mounts ahead of the October 7 presidential election.

Legal minds and rights defenders had said the move fixing visa-type conditions for travelers was illegal.
