The regional delegate of public contracts for the conflict-hit Northwest region says some 200 contracts have been executed for the first semester of 2021.

Execution of these contracts he says is at 100 percent despite the conflict in the region.

According to Joseph Bang, NW delegate for Public Contracts for the Northwest region, the increase in the realization of the projects is as a result of the award of the various contracts to executioners from the north west region:

“Last year, we had 300 projects realized by this time out of 367. This year, things have change completely with more projects realized,” the delegate said.

For close to five years now, the execution of public contracts in the conflict-hit Northwest region have not been going on as some contractors say they are targets for kidnapping.

This has left many surprised as they do not know where the contracts were executed in the region.

Francis, a business man in Bamenda says he thinks the regional delegate is playing eye service like others who continually tell lies about the region to officials in Yaoundé, hiding the real truth.

“This is not true. Just ordinary road reconstruction here in Bamenda has been grounded. There is no such thing like projects realization. Let the delegate come out clear with statistics as to where the projects are and who are the beneficiaries. Too much lies” Francis retorted.

Roads to divisions are often blocked, as ghost towns, frequent kidnappings have often frustrated many developmental activities in the Northwest region.

Government and separatists remain at the extremes, denying to find common ground.
