Northwest: Population confronts Nwa DO after Mbororo man stabs old woman

By Tata Mbunwe

The population of Mback community in Nwa, Northwest Region of Cameroon, this Sunday morning, rallied to the Nwa Subdivisional Office to decry “atrocities” of members of the Mbororo ethnic group against the local population.

This was after a man, reportedly one of the Mbororos, stabbed to death an old woman in her house on the night of February 20, also wounding her daughter.

The narrative goes that the man had forced himself into the house last night after knocking on the door for about 15 minutes to no avail.

The old woman, who was lying on the bed, sought to know what he wanted, but the furious man remained mute and stabbed the woman on the back just before her daughter’s intervention.

Sources say that the man narrowly escaped that night, but left behind a bag containing marijuana and some harmful objects, while the old woman’s daughter was injured during a scuffle with the intruder.

On Sunday morning, a disgruntled population carried the corpse to the DO’s office “decrying Mbororos’ atrocities in Nwa Subdivision since the outbreak of the Anglophone Crisis,” said a source.

However, given that Sunday is a non-working day for civil servants, the Divisional Officer had not made any comment about the issue at the time of this report.
