A notable of Nseh village in Bui division of the restive North West region and two other persons recently kidnapped by Amba fighters have regained their freedom, MMI has learnt.
The trio had been abducted two weeks ago. Then, fighters from one of the many Amba factions in Bui are said to have stormed the Fondom of Nseh and carried out the act. They fighters are said to have first missed out on abducting the traditional ruler of the village before settling for the trio.
According to a native of Nseh who identified himself only as Sevidzem for fear of attacks, the fighters”… first came and hid themselves at the Presbyterian Church hoping to abduct the Fon when if he showed up for service. Since the Fon didn’t come, they stormed the palace in Nseh the following Sunday and took away three persons to their camp”.
The amba fighters are said to have conditioned the release of the three persons only on condition that the Fon of Nseh hands himself to them. “This did not not happen, the population had almost completed a plan to wage a war against the fighters when the they were released,” our source said.
We also gathered from other sources that the victims showed no signs of torture but looked tired.
