Nso Fon votes, tells separatist fighters ‘independence’ is unattainable

HRH Fon Sehm Mbinglo of Nso has told separatist fighters their dream for a breakaway state will never come to pass.

He was talking after casting his vote moments ago in Kumbo, North West region. The election, he said, “is something so marvelous.”

Though there are bound to be challenges for him and others voted to the House of Chiefs from the division, he said, it will facilitate working with officials.

“… I am sure that when we shall be talking to the government through the governor, he will understand us fast,” he stated.

Fon Mbinglo added that “We only want peace. That peace that the regional election will bring to us and our people.”

Asked about separatist fighters, he said “I will like again to tell them that they have been struggling a lot but it cannot be possible to tamper with your government. You are not fit to win your government.”

Quoting the Biafran war in Nigeria decades back, he explained that “they fought and could not succeed. I don’t see that we will succeed here.”

His utterances come after a conspicuous silence following his release from separatist fighters’ captivity.

While in captivity, he maintained that he was for a unified Cameroon.

He had however denied government escort to return home after his release, chosing to head to Bamenda instead.
