Multiple reports on social media suggest Cynthia Atangana, aka Fiagan, has been arrested and detained.
David Eboutou, a renowned civil society activist in Cameroon, has reported that she was being held in the nation’s capital, Yaounde, where she resides.
Cynthia came to the limelight months ago when videos of her unclad went viral on social media. Many had expressed pity and outrage, of them being leaked.
Weeks later, another set of Cynthia’s pictures went viral again.
This time, she appeared in a video, claiming responsibility for her actions, and expressing no remorse for the leaks.
So far, it remains uncertain what charges are being levied against her.
However, it is speculated that she is going to be charged with public indecency, among other things.
Still, many hold that her arrest and detention will do little or nothing to give her the help she needs, given the nature of the country’s justice system.
