NW Elite shamed for abandoning lone female division one club, Vision Sports

By Timfuchi Aaron

The 2021/2022 national women’s championship gets underway this weekend and for the third consecutive year, Vision Sports FC of Bamenda will be the lone club from the region playing at that level.

Since the team gained promotion to the top tier level and received support from Minister Atanga Nji Paul, an elite of the region, and also from North West Governor Adolphe Lele Afrique, the team has been abandoned by the elite of the region.

During an encounter with the press in Bamenda to unveil players, the president of the club, Jephter Pase disclosed that but for the support received during the interpools from Minister Atanga Nji Paul and when the team qualified from North West governor, he has been carrying the burden of sponsoring the team alone.

He has thus called on the elite of the region especially the female elite to rally behind the team and other female clubs in the region.

This he said, will be a giant step towards promoting the girl child.

“Think of all the female elite of the region rallying support for female football and the impact it will create.I am still to feel the support of the elite of this region towards the lone female team at the national level. I plead with them to come to support the girls so that they can continue to make the region proud”, Jephter Pase said.

Meanwhile, apart from PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda which received support from the elite, the other clubs have been left on their own.

Yong Sports Academy, Foncha Street FC, and Rangers FC of Bafut are yet to benefit from such support from the elite unlike in other regions.
