The national president of Cameroon National Party for Reconciliation, PCRN has temporarily dissolved the party’s executive in Nyong et Ekelle division in the centre region of Cameroon.

In a decision signed Monday December 7th 2020 by the National president of party, Cabral Libii does not state in clear terms what has motivated such a decision.

The decision suspending party executive bureau in Nyong et EKelle division comes hours after the end of Cameroon’s first regional election.

Unofficial results shows that PCRN surprisingly lost in Nyong et Ekelle division in favour of Cameroon People Democratic Movement (CPDM) despite having the highest number of councillors.

Some sympathisers of PCRN shortly after the polls on Sunday December 6th 2020 took to the social media criticising the leadership of PCRN for trading votes of councillors to the CPDM party for money.

A source at PCRN has hinted that Cabral Libii have refused to share finances given to the party for campaign by the government. The national president of PCRN is quoted to have told councillors of his party in Nyong et Ekelle division to use their personal money for campaign. In anger, the councilors promised a sanction vote to PRCN.

It should be noted that Gregoire Owona ;deputy secretary general of the CPDM was in Nyong et Ekelle in the course of campaign. Analysts think he may have succeeded to influence councilors of PCRN to vote for the ruling party.

It remains unclear how members of the divisional executive in Nyong et Ekelle will react to the decision of the national president of PCRN.
