The André Onana Foundation is organizing a surgery campaign for hernias and goiters for children over the age of 15 and adults. The campaign will take place from November 1 to 12, 2023, at the Central Hospital of Yaoundé.

The foundation is partnering with the Spanish NGO “Cirujanos en Acción”(Surgeons in Action) to provide free surgery to patients who cannot afford it. The team of surgeons will be led by Dr. Miguel Ángel García, a specialist in pediatric surgery.

The campaign will focus on hernias and goiters, which are two of the most common surgical conditions in Cameroon. Hernias are bulges in the abdominal wall that can cause pain and discomfort. Goiters are enlarged thyroid glands that can also cause pain and discomfort.

The surgery campaign is expected to benefit hundreds of patients. It is a major initiative by the André Onana Foundation to improve the health of people in Cameroon.
