One dead, property lost in Ntankah military raid

Military men today raided Ntankah in the North West region in search of Ambazonian fighters. They are said to have detonated heavy explosives, killing a civilian.

The military men sources say also looted property and set houses ablaze. The population of the area has since taken cover in the bushes due to the fear of losing their lives.

The raid comes as one of several regular raids carried out by the Cameroon armed forces in villages and communities in the troubled North West and South West regions in their battle with Ambazonian fighters.

These latest raids come on the heels of the just ended major national dialogue in Yaounde that was expected to bring calm to the regions.

According to the Buea-based Centre for Human Rights and Democracy, CHRDA, hundreds of villages have been burnt in the process leaving their occupants on the run for fear of being victims.

Several rights groups have condemned the several rights groups they say are carried out by both state forces and Ambazonian fighters and have called on the government to undertake an all inclusive dialogue to bring the conflict to an end.
