One dies in a Yaounde Gas explosion

A truck transporting Gas bottles exploded in Nomayos, on the outskirts of Yaounde, Cameroon’s political capital.

The spontaneous explosion occured when the truck which had left Douala for Yaounde, carrying tens of domestic gas in bottles, suffered a break failure, fell off, causing the gas bottles to explode.

A man died after he was hit by fragments of the cooking cylinder as he was trying to take pictures and videos of the vehicle on fire.

The loud explosions created panic in the surrounding neighborhoods; many thought they were sounds of gunshots emanating from the military school located in Simbock, Yaounde.

A relative calm now reigns in the area.
