During a preparative meeting held at the senior Divisional office for Wourri in Douala, opposition political parties expessed their dissatisfaction with the way the 20th May parade has been organized.

It is improper according to them, that the ruling party, CPDM should be given squares of 150 persons, while those of the opposition parties are given squares of 50 persons in the course of the parade.

“When they say the CPDM has squares of 150 person and those of the opposition, squares of 50 persons, it is not normal. Others would have loved to go beyond the 50 persons. That’s is why we wanted to make our voices heard today, so that we can all feast happily. ” explained Rebecca, representative of an opposition party.

However, the Senior Divisional Officer for Wourri, Benjamin Mboutou, the head head commission in charge of political parties revealed the reason behind such distribution of squares.

He explained that “in effect, the squares of political parties in the course of the March past were distributed according to the representation of each political party in the national assembly and various municipal councils.”

The meeting was attended by the Senior Divisional Officers of Douala 1 to 5, representatives of the ruling political party, CPDM, as well as representatives of the opposition parties.
