Kah Walla and Oprah Winfrey
Edith Kah Walla, a prominent Cameroonian politician and gender activist, has unveiled a surprising revelation about Oprah Winfrey, the iconic American host and producer. In a tweet posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account this Thursday, Walla revealed that Oprah Winfrey is of both Cameroonian and Liberian descent. The tweet was accompanied by a photograph of Walla posing with Oprah in Italy, where the two are participating in the Vital Voices Global Dialogue.
This event is taking place under the auspices of the Vital Voices Global Partnership, an international non-profit organization committed to amplifying the voices and leadership of women around the globe.
The Vital Voices Global Dialogue, currently hosted in Italy, brings together female leaders, entrepreneurs, activists, and change-makers from various sectors to discuss critical issues impacting women worldwide and to foster collaboration and leadership development.
Walla, known for her activism and leadership in Cameroon, expressed her excitement and pride in Oprah’s African roots. “I asked Oprah directly. The answer is Yes; She did her DNA and yes, she is a Cameroonian and Liberian,” Walla wrote. Her tweet quickly gained traction on social media, sparking conversations about Oprah’s heritage and its significance.
Oprah Winfrey, a global figure renowned for her philanthropic efforts, media influence, and advocacy for women’s empowerment, has long inspired millions around the world.
