Cameroon’s telecommunication giant Orange has rejected social media claims that its Mobile Money Service has been hacked. In a message circulated by the company early Tuesday morning, the institution admits there was instability but rejects attacks.

“Dear Customer, following yesterday’s instability, the #150# is now accessible. No attack has been identified and Orange Money remains safe and secure.” The message reads

All through Monday, may users were unable to access their accounts.

For two days, some users of this service had challenges accessing their accounts. Each time they insist, they get a pop up message saying “system unavailable, try later” something never experienced before.

Many users during the said days lived some sort of nightmare especially those who have chosen it as a banking system.

“I don’t even want to believe Orange Money has been hacked. All my savings are in there. Let it not even be what I am thinking “ reported a user.

We cannot confirm if the the mobile money service was truly hacked
