Mohamadou Bouba, initiator of the peaceful march for the release of Marafa and other personalities has been released.
He was released after spending 48 hours behind bars in Garoua, capital of the North region.
Mohamadou Bouba was arrested on August 1, 2022, at the office of the Divisional Officer of Garoua 2 in the North Region.
The president of the Confederation of Young Solidarity Associations of Cameroon was arrested for filing the protest declaration at the Subdivisional office of Garoua 2.
He had planned to carry out the demonstration on August 12, 2022.
It is reported that once at the office, the Divisional Officer immediately invited the forces of law and order who arrived the venue and arrested him.
His plea, was to March for the release of high-profile indigenes of the North like Marafa, Vamoulké, and Iya Mohamadou who have been in detention.
The request, it should be noted, followed the recent release of ex minister Atangana Kouna who was put in detention for embezzlement in the year 2018.
Mohamadou Bouba has been granted permission to return home after spending two days in detention.
It remains uncertain if the march will hold.
