Outstanding Cameroonian student features in top 50 finalists for Prestigious international pedagogic award

By Mike Klaus

Afopezi Anua-Gueleh Moses, a young Cameroonian student is the only finalist from the country to feature amongst the top 50 finalists, from a pool of over 4000 students worldwide, for the Chegg.org Global Student Prize 2023.

Chegg.org Global Student Prize is a US$100,000 award presented to exceptional students from around the world, making a real impact on learning, the lives of their peers, and on society beyond. The award is given to young students making a real impact on learning, the lives of their peers, and on society beyond.

The 23-year-old has made the final selection as the only Cameroonian student on the shortlist, which features students from across the world. He has been a standout student leader and has braved several hurdles in his quest to impact his peers via IT most especially.

Afopezi Moses had his education greatly disrupted by the degeneration of the crisis in the North West and South West regions. It was his parents’ extra efforts that directed Moses to invest his resources in IT.

Today, Afopezi is the creator of an application called Skolarr, an AI-powered, personalized bilingual educational app whose purpose is to provide accessible and affordable educational content to all African students through the use of mobile technology.

Through this application, students can find practice problems, study guides, videos, class notes, and step-by-step explanations for every subject they are studying – from economics to literature, biology to history, accounting to psychology.

Afopezi Moses has gained massive recognition for his creativity and efforts to make educational material accessible to all students via his application. Should he win the award, Afopezi’s main priority will be to further improve his application to serve students in countries also facing socio-political crises.

Having made it into the top 50 list for the award, the objective for Afopezi Moses is to break into the top 10, and hopefully the victor.
