Over 100 Migrants including Cameroonians rescued from sea

Nearly 100 African migrants who have tried to take the dangerous route to Europe via the sea were today rescued from drowning off the West coast of Lybia.

It is reported that almost 20 of these migrants who undertook this dangerous course are still missing.

Despite the conflict and the high insecurity level of Lybia, thousands of Africans still choose to brave the odds to undertake the daunting journey to arrive at the shores of Europe.

Hundreds of Africans have died while crossing the sea heading to Europe, some lucky ones have made it to the end, while some fall into the trap of being trafficked in Libya as slaves.

Today’s rescue by the Libyan navy coast guard comprised mostly of Sub-Saharan Africans. They were rescued from the sea and brought to the Tripoli naval base, where a team from the International Migrant Organization was there to receive them. Most of these migrants were Cameroonians, Sudanese, and Malians.
