Over 2000 liters of illicit fuel seized in Loum

In an operation carried out by some members of the Mbanga Gendarmerie, they were able to seize amongst other things, more than 2000 litres of adulterated fuel from some traffickers in Loum, Moungo Division, Littoral Region of Cameroon.

The barrels of fuel were seized from a truck with plate number LT 216 FL, whose driver managed to escape from the hands of the forces of law and order upon apprehension. The suspected owner of the fuel was however not as lucky as he got taken by the Gendarmes.

The pick-up truck that carried the fuel was seized and the owner carried along to the Mbanga Company Brigade as investigations are set to begin to uncover the whole operation and to arrests all other suspects.

It should be noted that this is not the first operation by the forces of law and order around the country to crackdown on the importation and distribution of illicit fuel in the country. There have been reported cases of arrested individuals and hundreds of liters of fuel around the North West, South West, Centre and West regions especially.

The Mbanga Gendarmerie, following their latest arrest, has vowed to go all out against the proliferation of such illegal businesses which kill the economy of the country.
