Panicky Yaoundé Plans Fresh Measures To Curb Coronavirus Spread As 88 Cases Confirmed, 2 deaths

Cameroon’s Public Health Minister just concluded a meeting on measures to limit the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus, COVID-19.

As at March 26, 2020 there are:

-88 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cameroon
-60 of them in Yaounde
-25 patients in Douala and
-03 in West regional town of Bafoussam, Minister Manaouda Malachie said in the press conference.

What happened to cases in the South West regions, SWR? Minister Manaouda Malachie failed to mention cases of Covid-19 in the restive South West region of the country hitherto confirmed by local health authorities.

On Wednesday, the health delegate in the SWR said three persons we’re being tested for the disease in the region while one case was confirmed in Limbe on Thursday.

Could government be concealing figures?

Again, Minister Malachie announced two deaths from coronavirus, though he initially insisted only one death was recorded.

Malachi says social distancing and staying indoors remain the “most suitable safety measures”.
