Passengers stranded as strike by air traffic controllers leaves flights cancelled

Several flights have been cancelled following a strike action by air traffic control workers.

In Cameroon, this has left a good number of travelers stranded at the Douala Airport stranded, while some are left with no option but to return home.

According to reports from state media, “seventeen African countries have their airport services grounded this weekend because of a strike action by workers of ASECNA.”

They added that “travelers are stranded in Cameroon and some complaining of Covid19 tests that will expire after paying 30.000frs and other expenses at the Douala International Airport.”

In a release addressing its customers, the Cameroon Airways, Camair-Co said it will inform them of any updates as the evolution of events dictate.

The air traffic control workers are demanding an improvement in their working conditions and better career plans.

It should be noted that many flights were equally canceled on Friday, September 23 in various West African Airports.
