In a decision signed by Cameroon’s minister of territorial administration and read over the state radio Wednesday, November 18, 2020, Paul Atanga Nji says “Movement 10 Millions de Nordistes” is “…an illegal movement fanning unpatriotic and unacceptable actions in Cameroon”.
Minister Paul Atanga Nji cites Guibai Gatama, publisher of L’Oeil du Sahel newspaper as being the one championing the movement that is not recognised and authorised by the administration throughout the national territory.
In the decision banning the movement, the minister of territorial administration calls on governors, senior divisional officers, divisional officers and other administrators in Cameroon to ensure an effective ban of the movement and all its activities.
He further warns defaulters of the ban to be ready to face the wrath of the administration.
Last month, the ‘Movement 10 millions de Nordistes’ lodged a complaint at the administrative court in Yaounde against the minister of public service and administrative reforms asking for the respect of 30% admission quota reserved for Northerners into the national school of public administration and majestracy, ENAM for the academic year 2020/2021 .
Reacting to their demand, minister Joseph Le indicated that ENAM admitted 177 students from the three Northern regions representing 28% of the total number of students admitted in the ten regions of Cameroon.
Figures the Movement has so far rated as invalid.
The banned “Movement 10 million Nordistes”, according to its leaders, is to defend the respect of people from the North, Far North and Adamawa regions of Cameroon.
At the time of this report, Guibai Gatama, leader of the banned movement had not issued any official statement to react to accusations that the movement is aimed at distabilising Cameroon.
