Meme Senior Divisional Officer, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong has ordered the reopening of Kumba Town Presbyterian Church, in the South West Region.

On August 30, the Meme SDO ordered the closure of the church, which he attributed to, “the persistent tension among the worshipers of Presbyterian Church of Kumba Town, the antagonism between two factions of the same congregation, notably the Presbyterian church of Kumba Town that led to occultism,” and “the necessity to maintain public order.”

In another release published today, September 27, Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong indicated that the closure decision has now been annuled.

“Doors of the Presbyterian Church, Congregation of Kumba Town shall be instantly unsealed for the congregation to carry on its usual activities in accordance with the rules and regulations in force,” he said.

According to the Meme SDO, the lifting of the ban follows “the settlement of the crisis plaguing Presbyterian Church-Kumba Town Congregation during an extraordinary meeting of an enlarged Synod Committee Executive held on the 24 September 2022.”

He equally charged the Divisional Officer of Kumba I to take responsibility for the implementation of the above order.

Prior to the church closure, infighting had aggravated, and fetish objects were even spotted at the entrance to the structure.

Many hope that the latest move by church and administrative authorities will bring an end to the squabbles, with all parties satisfied.
