The elder of the Presbyterian Church Kumba Town was heading to Batibo village in the North West Region for his traditional wedding on Sunday May 31st when the incident happened. According to a document Mimi Mefo Info got from Kumba 1 Council, AKWO Gabriel Makia was to sign his marriage on the 13th of June 2020 in the Council .

The money Mr. Makia was taking to Batibo for the traditional wedding was found on his body. It has equally been mentioned that separatist fighters blocked the Kumba/Mamfe road since last Saturday. This provoked a confrontation between the military and the amba boys.
