Massardine Albert Fleuri, a founding member of the Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation (PCRN) has survived an assassination attempt on his life.
The information was revealed by the party’s disputed President, Hon. Cabral Libii.
In a post on X, Hon Libii said the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, May 1, when yet-to-be-identified individuals attacked Albert Fleuri in his home.
Although he survived the attempt on his life, his son was reportedly injured during the attack.
“Glory to God for their lives. They have never experienced this. A complaint is filed,” Hon Libii tweeted.
This assassination attempt comes amidst internal strife within the PCRN leadership.
Albert Fleuri has been at odds with Robert Kona, the party’s founder, who claims to have dismissed Cabral Libii from his position as party President.
Fleuri, who was strongly against Kona’s actions, led a delegation to the Far North Region to discredit Kona before party militants.
However, Kona, after allowing Libii to lead the party, reemerged and asserted his authority, leading to legal disputes in the Adamawa Region over the party’s leadership.
Both leaders have dismissed each other from the party, with Robert Kona securing the support of the Ministry of Territorial Administration.
Despite efforts to resolve the leadership crisis, the rightful leader of the PCRN remains undetermined by the administrative court.
Disagreements between the factions continue to escalate, particularly as the country approaches the 2025 presidential elections.
The assassination attempt on Albert Fleuri has raised concerns about the increasing tensions within the party.
The assassination attempt on Fleuri underscores the volatile political atmosphere in the PCRN as rival factions vie for control.
