Blasius Charles Nji, Managing Editor of The Pilot, a local tabloid based in Bamenda, has been summoned to appear before the police.

A press release from The Pilot newspaper made public on Wednesday, May 5, 2024, states that its managing editor received a telephone call to appear before the Special Branch of the police in the Bamenda 2 subdivision.

“The Managing Editor of The Pilot newspaper in Bamenda has been invited, (through a phone call), to appear in the office of the Special Branch Police Unit on Friday, 7th June 2024 at 11 am prompt for a matter that concerns him,” reads the press release signed by Charles Blasius Nji.

He further stated, “The reasons for the matter and the person with the matter will be revealed on that day.”

In a conversation with MMI, Blasius Charles Nji mentioned that although the reasons for the summons were not specified, he is confident that “the police summons is in relation to my journalism work.”

Agreeing to honor the summons, Blasius did not disclose to MMI whether he had sought legal advice.

When asked if he had faced any threats in the past for his journalistic activities, Blasius responded, “Not at all.”
