The incident took place sartuday April 16.
Some sources explained that the victim attempted escaping the checkpoint when the man in uniform pulled his trigger.
The taxi man was later rushed to the Foumban district hospital, after which he was evacuated to the Bafoussam regional hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
Following the incident, other taxi drivers stormed the police station and in anger, they threatened to set the structure ablaze.
Efforts by the local authorities were subdued by the raging anger of the protesters.
